Melbourne Fringe: Fag/Stag

Jimmy and Corgan want to tell you a story about love and friendship and how masculinity sometimes gets in the way. They were both in love with the same woman once, though at different times – and now they’ve been invited to her wedding. Actually, Jimmy is gay, so that love thing is complicated. No, wait, in the age of Tinder, things are complicated for Corgan, too.

Fag/Stag at Melbourne Fringe 2015

Fag/Stag is a duologue, a he said/he said drama about the days leading up to the wedding from Jimmy and Corgan’s differing points of view. The writing is sharp and incisive. We get a clear picture of these two men pretty quickly and then the show digs deeper – exposing each character’s wildly divergent thoughts on even the smallest of moments. It’s smart, confronting and pretty damn funny.

Jeffrey Jay Fowler and Chris Isaacs are the talented writer–actor duo that bring Jimmy and Corgan to life: a life that can be complicated by a society that expects men to be a certain way or a level of Donkey Kong that seems impossible to pass.
