Sharon Millerchip and Jamie Oxenbould are currently starring in a production of Last Of The Red Hot Lovers at the Ensemble Theatre in Sydney.
Press notes for the show read: “An uproariously funny play from the master of social comedy that proves that for some people it really is too late to join the sexual revolution.”
Meet Barney Cashman (Jamie Oxenbould). He’s 47 years old, married with kids, a responsible restaurateur who has always done the right thing, but not today. Today he is going to change his life and do something reckless; something wild; something exciting! He is going to have an affair… in his mother’s apartment. He’s thought of everything, he’s brought whiskey, glasses and aftershave. Now all he needs is the girl, or rather, girls. Enter Elaine, and Bobbi and Jeanette each with their own peculiarities, psychoses and problems, and all played by the talented Sharon Millerchip. Three women, three afternoons and three hilarious seductions that will have you rolling in the aisles.
Director Mark Kilmurry has assembled a fantastic cast for this production.
Sharon Millerchip is one of Australia’s best loved musical theatre performers with lead roles in The Phantom Of The Opera, West Side Story, Beauty And The Beast, Cats, They’re Playing Our Song and Chicago.
Despite her many years on the stage, this production marks Millerchip’s Ensemble debut.
The story is different for Oxenbould, who has appeared in several Ensemble productions including Fully Committed and You Talkin’ To Me.
The play runs until January 8.
