Adelaide readers, if one of your favourite things is musical theatre, you’re in luck. Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian, John Frost and the Really Useful Group announced yesterday that The Sound of Music will travel to Adelaide in August 2016, following seasons in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
Tickets for the Adelaide season, at the Festival Theatre, will go on sale to the general public on Monday 26 October.
This new Australian tour, based on the London Palladium production, will star Amy Lehpamer as Maria, Cameron Daddo as Captain Von Trapp, Marina Prior as the Baroness, and Jacqueline Dark as Mother Abbess. David James will play Max Detweiler and Lorraine Bayly will play Frau Schmidt.
Liesl will be played by Stefanie Jones and Rolf by Du Toit Bredenkamp.
The ensemble cast includes Johanna Allen (Sister Sophia), Eleanor Blythman (Sister Margaretta), Sophie Cheeseman, Colin Dean, William Groucutt, Dominica Matthews (Sister Berthe), Katie McKee, Kathleen Moore, Meredith O’Reilly, Ashleigh Rubenach and Sophie Weiss.
