Dramafreak Productions, winners of the ‘Best Emerging Producer’ award at the Sydney Fringe Festival 2024, are thrilled to bring Definitely Not A Hungry Game: A Parody Musical to the Adelaide Fringe Festival in February 2025.
Written by Sydney-based creatives Robbie Alexander and Freya Moore, and based on the original source material written by Suzanne Collins, this The Hunger Games inspired musical features 18 original songs and satirises tropes not only seen in the films and books, but in many teen dystopian films and novels.
Described by Australian Arts Review as a “clever mix of District 12 meets RuPaul’s drag race, and a jubilant celebration of the genre’s original source material”, the show blends pop culture with both vague and niche references to The Hunger Games so that the show appeals not just to the die-hard fans of the original source material but to all.
Marking the show’s first performance outside of Sydney, where it was originally written, rehearsed and performed, the upcoming two-week season at The Parks Theatre also marks Adelaide Fringe Festival debuts for all members of its vibrant cast.
The star-studded cast features 16 up-and-coming Sydney-based performers, whose talents stretch across all aspects of performance including musical theatre, improv comedy, contemporary dance, cabaret and so much more.
Opening on February 26 and running until March 8, this production has songs that audiences won’t be able to stop singing and jokes that will keep you laughing even after the curtain has closed – don’t miss out!
