Baz Luhrmann will spend time in Sydney from late November looking at the show’s music and score.
Luhrmann is still looking for presenting partners and the show is years away from actually hitting the stage, but word that the project has been given the green light would delight millions of people around the world, who fell in love with the 1990’s dance flick.
According to The Daily Mail, Lurhmann will direct the show himself, and he wants to use Strictly Ballroom on stage as a way of redefining musical theatre.
“One has to be both honest and true to what the movie was, but also daring with the execution on stage,” Luhrmann said.
