South Australia’s most dynamic and passionate musical theatre talent have joined forces to present the much anticipated, Songs For A New World.

The award winning team of producers, directors and performers will embark on the exciting and touching journey that is composer, Jason Robert Brown’s, signature musical.

Jason Robert Brown has been hailed as “one of Broadway’s smartest and most sophisticated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim”.

With an emotionally charged score of contemporary pop/rock theatre music, the audience is transported from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue.

Songs For A New World features an array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto, to a woman whose dream of marrying rich leaves her in a soulless marriage, to the woman behind the behind of the man behind Christmas.

These are the stories and characters of today; the songs for a new world.

The production team consist of Andy Ahrens as Director, Peter Johns as Musical Director and Sue Pole as Choreographer who are back together for the first time since their multi?award winning successes with Seussical the Musical and Urinetown.

Urinetown won ATG Curtain Call Award for Best Show/Adelaide Critics Circle ‘The Coopers’ Group Award and Seussical won ATG Curtain Call Award for Best Show/ATG Curtain Call Award for Best Male Performance/TASA Critical Award for Best Show. Both shows were nominated for a number of other awards within Critics Circle and ATG.

“It’s a privilege to work on a thematic based musical. It’s essentially 15 short musical stories in one evening,” Director, Andy Ahrens said.

Songs For A New World is set to feature Meg Tucker, Megan Humphries, Joel Valenti and Mark Oates.
