Former AussieTheatre.com Adelaide Editorial Coordinator Rohan Shearn has been named the new General Manager of the Jigsaw Theatre Company.
Mr Shearn joins Jigsaw Theatre Company, one of Australia’s leading professional theatre companies for young audiences aged 4 – 18 years, from Adelaide where he ran a successful on-line media business, Byte Media.
He comes to Jigsaw Theatre Company with a background in theatre administration and event management that dates back many years.
Originally a musician with the Australian Army, he trained in arts administration at Swinburne University in the mid nineties and since then has had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of productions from intimate theatre through to large-scale events. Key appointments have included General Manager for the Riverina Theatre Company, Northern Rivers Performing Arts and Feast Festival, and Precinct Operations Supervisor for the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. He is currently completing the Master of Management
(Arts and Cultural Management) at the University of South Australia.
Jigsaw Chair, Andrew Lu OAM said: “The Board of Jigsaw is delighted to welcome Rohan to our team and to Canberra. Rohan’s years of professional experience as an arts administrator with a proven track record in theatre will be a great asset to Jigsaw and to Canberra’s professional arts sector.”
Launching into Jigsaw Theatre Company’s latest production of Wendy which opens in a couple of weeks, Mr Shearn said: “I’m honoured to be appointed as General Manager. Jigsaw has a proud history of professional arts practice and the premiere of our next original production will no doubt continue this tradition.”
