Kirby Lunn, Jamie Ward, Ashlea Pyke, Blake Bowden, Gretel Scarlett and Luigi Lucente – Rob Guest Endowment Finalists 2011

The 2012 Rob Guest Endowment has extended its closing date by one week in order to accommodate the myriad of last minute application requests.

Originally scheduled to close today (Friday 13 July), applications will now be accepted until close of business, Friday July 20 due to overwhelming demand.

“The Rob Guest Endowment is growing vastly every year and this year we wanted to leave no stone unturned in our search for our 2012 finalists” Ross Hannaford, from the Rob Guest Endowment committee told AussieTheatre.

“Our lucky six contestants will not only be vying for our $10,000 title prize but also for the $5000 Production Company award. It’s a great year to be involved and we wanted to give applicants as much time as we could to be a part of it!”

To be eligible for this prestigious award, applicants must be an Australian Citizen aged between 18-30 on the 19 November 2012. Applicants will be given the chance to audition for a panel of industry professionals to win a place in the semi finals in Sydney on September 17. Thirty semi finalists will be taken through rigorous vocal, acting and dance auditions before the six finalists are chosen.

The 2011 winner Blake Bowden, who is currently starring as Pat Matthew in Moonshadow, has encouraged young performers to apply for the 2012 award.

“The ANZ Trustees Rob Guest Endowment was undoubtedly one of the greatest experiences of my life” he told AussieTheatre.

“Working with the very best of Australian Musical Theatre talent and then getting the opportunity to study in New York with the very best that Mecca of theatre has to offer, was an opportunity unparalleled in the Australian theatre community.”

If you are an eligible musical theatre performer and wish to take part in the 2012 Rob Guest Endowment, be sure to send your HARD COPY applications in by Friday 20 July. Email submissions will not be accepted.
