After a gruelling day of live auditions on Monday 22 August, 6 young artists were selected as the finalists in this year’s Rob Guest Endowment Concert.
After a gruelling day of live auditions on Monday 22 August, 6 young artists were selected as the finalists in this year’s Rob Guest Endowment Concert.
29 young hopefuls were shortlisted from video auditions and applications submitted earlier in the year to audition in front of a panel of judges including Rodger Hodgeman, Stuart Maunder, Karen Johnson Mortimer and Kellie Dickerson. Auditionees were required to undertake a singing audition and a dance call (with Ross Hannaford) before the final decision was made.
The six finalists for the concert are Blake Bowden (Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber), Gretel Scarlett (Wicked), Ashlea Pyke (Hairspray), Luigi Lucente (Jersey Boys), Kirby Lunn (Hairspray- pictured) and Jamie Ward (Dr. Zhivago).
All will perform at a special Rob Guest Endowment Concert on Monday 10 October at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne for the chance to win a $10, 000 cash prize, along with invaluable performance experience, media training, and guidance to help them become a leading artists in the Australian Musical Theatre Industry.
Also performing at the concert will be cast member from Strange Bedfellows, Love Never Dies and Rock of Ages alongside some of Australia’s biggest music theatre stars including Lucy Durack, David Harris, Rob Mills, Esther Hannaford and Amanda Harrison.
A live auction will also be held throughout the night, with some unique musical theatre memorabilia on offer. Don’t miss out on a brilliant night of entertainment & an opportunity to remember the great Rob Guest and celebrate a new generation of Australian Musical Theatre stars.
