Peter Goers is one of Adelaide’s true theatre icons having performed and reviewed countless of theatrical performances across many years. So it is surprising to learn that he has never graced the stage at The Thebarton Theatre! Until now!
Peter Goers will be the illustrious host of The Barton Gala, on Saturday 30th January. The Thebarton Theatre will present the Gala along with Ding Productions and Novatech in support of the Performing Arts in Adelaide.
The show was scheduled for late November but was forced to postpone when Adelaide went into a lockdown. The show’s Artistic Director Jo Casson said:
We had already created the show and were about to go into four days of rehearsals when the Parafield cluster forced the announcement of a six day hard lockdown in November. It was such a disappointment for the whole cast.
But the show must go on and a new date has finally been rescheduled for Saturday 30th January with 18 professional cast consisting of singers, live band and a spectacular dance ensemble. The new date has enabled Goers to take part and it promises to be a night to remember for Peter and audiences alike. “My debut at the great Thebby among some of the best talent in SA. Loud and proud SA talent. And Ding go the strings of my heart”.
The show will include a diverse range of popular music as far-reaching as Carole King, Queen, Buble, The Beatles, Louis Prima and The Foo Fighters and will include sensational arrangements of Australian classics including Tina Arena, Peter Allen, INXS and even Cold Chisel!
The Thebarton Theatre will be dressed for The Gala with cabaret tables and lamps and Bird in Hand Sparkling will be available on the night.
