Opera Hunter presents WORKING

 Newcastle and the Hunter Region’s flagship theatre company, Opera Hunter, is presenting the Musical Revue Working this month at the Dungeon (Adamstown).

 Newcastle and the Hunter Region’s flagship theatre company, Opera Hunter, is presenting the Musical Revue Working this month at The Dungeon (Adamstown).  Written by a team of composers (including Stephen Schwartz, James Taylor and Craig Carnelia), and based on Studs Terkel book Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do (1974) which features interviews with working in various different occupations, Working is a heartwarming account of real people through song. 
Characters include the parking lot attendant, office worker (she has a problem with her boss), a teacher nearing retirement (played by the great Nola Wallace), a super market check-out girl, a political fund-raiser, some Truckies, a waitress, a retired man wrestling with too much time and fading memory, a Fireman, a cleaner and others.
Directed by CONDA winner Jason King with musical direction by Kieran Norman and choreography by Silvia Martinez, the show will play a limited season of 8 performances. 
The cast represents the crème of Newcastle’s Theatre performers including: Elizabeth Beck, Jacquelyn Brown, Paul Chegwidden, Glen Ironman, Silvia Martinez, Guilherme Noronha, Nick Stabler, Kerryn Taylor, Richard Thomas, Louise Thornton, and Nola Wallace.
The venue is the intimate Dungeon below Adamstown Uniting Church, cnr Glebe & Brunker Roads.
