OKLAHOMA!, Harvest Rain’s professional debut

Brisbane is jam packed this week, with three musicals playing at QPAC – Legally Blonde, Next To Normal and Oklahoma!

Oklahoma! – Harvest Rain

Brisbane’s most successful independent music theatre society, Harvest Rain Theatre Company, will present their first professional production tonight – the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical OKLAHOMA! at QPAC for a strictly limited season.

Amongst the all-star cast includes Ian Stenlake (Sea Patrol, Stingers, Cabaret, Guys & Dolls) as Curly, Logie award winning actor Val Lehman (Prisoner) as Aunt Eller, veteran TV & Stage actor Steven Tandy (The Sullivans) as Andrew Carne, 2011 Australian Cabaret Showcase winner Angela Harding as Laurey and fresh out of the recent hit South Pacific, Musical Theatre star Andrew Conaghan as Jud Fry.

Celebrating 70 years since the musical was first produced on Broadway, director Tim O’Connor said that OKLAHOMA! was “the musical that started them all.”

It was the first Broadway musical where the songs followed the story, rather than the story being devised as a means of stringing a series of songs together.

Complete with a 24-piece orchestra, original choreography, and award winning Harvest Rain production team, OKLAHOMA! promises to delight a new generation of audiences with this timeless classic.

OKLAHOMA! Will be playing in the Concert Hall at QPAC from 18 – 20 April.
Tickets are now on sale at QPAC.
