NIDA Open Day – Saturday 17 May 2014

On 17 May, the National Institute of Dramatic Art is throwing its doors open for one day for anyone and everyone to find out more about everything the centre has to offer – from training award-winning actors like Cate Blanchett, to introducing kids as young as two years old to the world of stage and screen.

The day is a great opportunity to try out the NIDA experience yourself, with workshops in acting for the stage or big screen, improvisation, comedy and how to be a TV presenter.

In particular, NIDA is very happy to welcome back some of their best-known acting alumni from across theatre, television and film. Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood from Channel Seven’s A Place to Call Home will join Liana Cornell (The Winter’s Tale, Bell Shakespeare), Yalin Ozucelik (A Comedy of Errors, Sport for Jove) along with other great Australian actors to share their experiences of NIDA and their tips for aspiring future students.

There will also be performances by NIDA’s talented students, behind the scenes tours of the Parade Theatres, a peek into the props and sets workshops, and a revealing look at what goes into creating NIDA’s spectacular costumes.
