Moulin Rouge! The Musical is thrilled to announce three principal cast promotions and the six new performers who are joining the glittering world of bohemians and aristocrats for the upcoming Perth season.
WAAPA graduate James Bryers will step into the role of The Duke, a role he knows intimately as the principal cover of Duke/Zidler during the Melbourne and Sydney seasons. One of Montmartre’s resident artistes will be played by another WAAPA alumni, Jarrod Draper as Toulouse-Lautrec, who steps into the role from the orginal Australian cast ensemble. Original Australian cast ensemble member, Chaska Halliday will now play the role of La Chocolat, one of the “Lady M’s”.
New company members include Adam-Jon Fiorentino joining as the principal cover of Duke/Zidler, Alfie Gledhill as Lautrec’s cover and ensemble member, and Adam Lyon as another cover for Zidler and member of the ensemble. Nat Foti, Danielle Gibson, and Bree Christine Stephens will also join the ensemble rounding out the company.
These new cast members will perform alongside the esteemed original Australian cast who have just completed a sold out Sydney season. Alinta Chidzey stars as the sparkling diamond, Satine, opposite Des Flanagan as bohemian dreamer Christian, with Simon Burke AO playing legendary club impresario Harold Zidler. Ryan Gonzalez plays Argentinian Tango dancer Santiago, while the club’s famed entertainers known as the ‘Lady M’s’ will be played by Samantha Dodemaide as Nini, Olivia Vásquez as Arabia and Christopher J Scalzo as Babydoll.
The Perth season of Moulin Rouge! The Musical commences on Tuesday 21st February, 2023, after travelling from Sydney, where Luhrmann’s film was made at Fox Studios, 22 years ago.
