Moulin Rouge! on Broadway supports Australian Bushfires

It’s undeniable how strong of an Aussie connection Moulin Rouge! has.

The film was helmed by Baz Luhrmann, Catherine Martin, and Nicole Kidman, and the current Broadway adaptation has been produced by Australian company Global Creatures (King Kong). The current production also features several Australian performers as part of its ensemble cast.

The show’s performance on Sunday January 26th, Australia Day, will see all its profits donated to Australian bushfire relief. On Monday January 27th, The cast will present the “Make It Rain Rally” lead by Australian cast members Karli Dinardo and Reed Luplau at Le Poisson Rouge. The rally will include performances from Postmodern Jukebox with Morgan James, Ben Folds, the cast of Moulin Rouge! and several other Broadway casts such as Frozen, Tootsie, and Hamilton, with more yet to be announced.

Both events’ profits are going to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund, and WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue.

The show preaches its message of love above all else, and these efforts prove just that. It’s truly spectacular, spectacular.
