Mantaur hit the Sydney Fringe with new show

A sketch show for the Sydney Fringe: The Recidivists is ready to blow some minds.

Sydney performers Rob Johnson and Harry Milas (who comprise the performance team Mantaur) have announced a brand new sketch show for the upcoming Sydney Fringe Festival.

Comedy, theatre and magic? Mantaur are your guys.

Titled The Recidivists, the project sees the duo return to the sketch format following their successful impro show in the 2014 Sydney Comedy Festival.

Johnson, from Sydney’s Inner West, and Milas, a North Shore local, will perform on the Factory Floor at The Factory Theatre, Marrickville, on September 11 and 13 at 8.15pm, and on September 14 at 7.15pm.

The Recidivists follows on from the duo’s 2013 Fringe show “Mantaur”, and will explore their love of absurd humour and extreme characters, with a healthy undercurrent of earnest storytelling.

Johnson and Milas are two-time University of Sydney Theatresports champions, as well as 2013 Impro Australia Scriptless Cup champions.

Johnson recently appeared in the Australian premiere of Carrie: The Musical and in the Hayes Theatre’s On the Spot Musical. He has also just been announced in the cast of Squabbalogic’s Sondheim on Sondheim.

Milas is a professional magician, and has appeared in Power Games and Offspring. His original magic show, Wreck and Ruin, will be playing at the Fringe in early September.
