Make way for Aladdin! Disney’s hit musical will tour to Melbourne

Aladdin, Genie, Jasmine and the citizens of Agrabah will be heading to Melbourne for a highly anticipated season at Her Majesty’s Theatre from April 2017.

Disney Theatrical Productions have confirmed that Aladdin – The Musical will be moving to Melbourne following the completion of its debut Sydney season at the Capitol Theatre, Haymarket.

The enormous cast of 37 talented triple threats (who wear 337 costumes made from 1225 different fabrics every show!) is led by Michael James Scott in the role of the Genie and Ainsley Melham as Aladdin. Almost 500,000 Swarovski crystals appear on the glittering costumes and with thirty tonnes of exotic flying scenery and 40 tonnes of automation and staging to tour, moving this multi-million dollar production to Melbourne is no small task.

Thomas Schumacher, President and Producer for Disney Theatrical Productions, is confident the show will travel well to Her Majesty’s Theatre.

2017 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of Disney’s animated film Aladdin, and the 3rd anniversary of the stage production.

Tickets will be available to the general public through Ticketek from 9AM, Thursday 6 October.
