Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols cast announcement

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with the return of the much-loved Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols taking to Brisbane Riverstage on Saturday 11 December from 4pm, presented by Subway and produced by The Little Red Company.

The Brisbane-based production powerhouse behind stage hits Christmas Actually and There’s Something About Music will partner with Brisbane City Council to take keen carollers to tinsel town for this night-of-starry-nights and the unofficial start of the City’s seasonal celebrations.

Hosted by Queensland’s first lady of song Naomi Price, the superstar cast of local luminaries includes Kate Miller-Heidke, Sheppard, Troy and Jem Cassar-Daley, Marcus Corowa, Luke Kennedy, Lucy Maunder and Mat Verevis plus an extra-special appearance from true-blue Queensland icons Bluey and Bingo in a world-first performance backed by a live orchestra.

The two-hour program will also feature a 20-strong kick line of Queensland’s best professional dancers choreographed by Kate Wormald (Happy Feet, Commonwealth Games) and will include a yuletide message from a major international star, with more headline artists still to be announced.

Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols Executive Producer Ms Price:

This year’s ‘Radio City Hallinspired’ spectacular has been thoughtfully designed to reflect a uniquely Brisbane family Christmas experience for live and national audiences tuning in for the televised show.

Our 2021 program will take the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols from a lovely family get-together to an absolute must-attend event that highlights our world-class local talent and delights audiences with uplifting music, special surprises and a bucket load of heart.

We are truly thrilled to showcase the best of Brisbane in a seasonal celebration that feels like home, from the outdoor setting of the City Botanic Gardens to the festive music, entertainment  and camaraderie of community.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner:

The beloved annual event provides the ideal opportunity for family, friends and the Brisbane community to come together and celebrate the festive season. The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols concert is a cherished event on our calendar that will lift spirits and showcase the amazing musical talent we have in Brisbane in a joyous performance of seasonal songs.

With the help of Santa’s Little Red Company helpers, we have no doubt that this year’s event will be Australia’s most talked-about Carols celebration.

Subway® ANZ’s Head of Marketing Rodica Titeica:

The brand is excited to be supporting Brisbane  City Council and The Little Red Company at this year’s Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols. “It is fantastic to see the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols being held in person again this year. Subway is thrilled to be the official presenter of this year’s event, which means our famous. cookies will be front and centre at the show – because of course, everyone knows they’re Santa’s favourite cookies.

Foodbank Australia CEO, Brianna Casey:

We are so grateful to be the charity partner at this wonderful event. For every $5 ticket sold, Foodbank can provide the equivalent of 10 meals to those in our community doing it tough.

But wait… there’s myrrh. The full two-hour Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols show will be broadcast on Sunday 19 December at 7pm on 9 Queensland and available to watch nationally on 9Now. A 60-minute highlights show of the event will also be televised on Christmas Day across Australia. The 2021 Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols are on Saturday 11 December at Brisbane Riverstage from 4pm. Tickets will be available from Wednesday 1 December at 10am via Brisbane City Council’s website with all ticket proceeds to charity partner Foodbank.
