Lisa Fisher and Grand Baton

Lisa Fischer. Image Supplied.

Grammy Award winner Lisa Fischer has had a long career performing alongside mega-acts like the Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails and Tina Turner. She is coming to Brisbane for the Queensland Cabaret Festival on a tour with her new band, Grand Baton. Her one-night only performance will include songs that span Fischer’s illustrious career, as well as some of her original pieces. The evening will have an international flavour- with influences from Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Ms Fischer takes a little time out of her schedule to indulge me with an email interview.

What are you most excited about doing on this tour? (Whether it be a part of the show, or somewhere/something you’ll get to visit)
Being one with the audience.

What are you thinking about when you perform?
I’m thinking about not thinking (and feeling more than anything else)!

How did you choose which music to perform on this tour?
We chose the music purely based on having a blast.

If you had to pick only one song to perform, which would it be and why?
Breath of Heaven, because it feels like a prayer.

What’s something people would not guess about you?
I absolutely love bike riding!

Catch Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton at QPAC’s Concert Hall, Friday 10 June. For more information, please see the QPAC Website.
