Late night cabaret

Night owls take note: the Sydney Opera House has heard the call and created a signature series for those punters looking for a cool after-hours destination.

Late Night Lounge will be a monthly rock ‘n’ roll, variety, cabaret, chat show experience that brings together both the famous and the infamous artists performing across Sydney.

The line up will vary each month but will be edgy, dynamic and always good fun – audiences should expect the unexpected.

The March lounge includes cabaret sensation Paul Capsis, musical theatre star Ian Stenlake, Scottish comic Craig Hill,  Angus & Julia Stone drummer Matt Johnson (with surprise guests), drag illusionist Dallas Dellaforce and DJ Sveta hitting the decks.

Keeping a loose rein on the monthly party will be MC Anthony Durkin with a red-hot house band, normally under the direction of Matt McMahon.

However New York composer and pianist Lance Horne will again act as special guest musical director in March.

The first Late Night Lounge sold out with performances by Australian singer-songwriters Tex Perkins and Jenny Morris, feline femme fatale Meow Meow, purveyors of twisted pop cabaret Frisky & Mannish (UK), superstar of drag Amelia Airhead, aerialist The Amazing Ari and pin-up goddess of the hula hoop Kira Carden.

Guests can purchase supper and chill with a drink as we sample stories and songs, moves and grooves, familiar faces and secret surprise guests.
