Hidden records to be found in Australian Music Vault x Record Store Day collaboration

Iconic records from featured Australian Music Vault artists will be hidden in mystery locations across the country for Record Store Day Australia – a global celebration of the indie record space on April 22.

The vinyl record hunt celebrates the 16th incarnation of Record Store Day, which will have indie stores pumping with new releases, sales, events, golden tickets, and exhibitions. Hidden records with unique AMV branding will be placed in selected locations for eagle-eyed punters; the vinyl curated and purchased with local stores to reflect everything we love about Australian music.

Australian Music Vault, Senior Curator, Carolyn Laffan:

There’s a magical energy about Australia’s music culture. Record stores are often a meeting place of inspiration for creatives, and we can’t wait to see stores full of activity for Record Store Day. It’s a treat to be a part of this amazing initiative and good luck to all on the lookout for hidden Australian Music Vault gems.

The vinyl hunt adds to an already massive day for stores across the country, with Peking Duk signing at Beatniks in Queensland; live sets from Ella Thompson, Close Counters and The Rookies at Northside Records in Victoria; a special live performance from Redhook at Crosstalk Records in New South Wales; a RSD debut at Karma Llama in Western Australia with live performances from Emily Barker, The Stamps and Jack Davies; more live sets from Antenna, Cammy Cautious and the Wrestlers, Big Echo and Tropical Strength at Franks Wild Years in NSW.

MTV have joined the Record Store Day party, offering fans vinyl giveaways through their socials on the day and The Gospel will be visiting a selection of licensed independent record stores across Melbourne on rotation throughout the day to sling whiskey highball tastings for shoppers for a limited time.

Blake Budak, Landspeed Records:

Record Store Day is all about celebrating and supporting independent record stores and their unique and special role they play in our communities globally. We’re particularly excited this year about the 14 exclusive Australian releases from the likes of Underground Lovers, Penny Ikinger, Gum and Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Peking Duk, Ball Park Music, Confidence Man and more.
