Seen by over 60 million people around the globe and featuring over 22 of ABBA’S greatest hits, MAMMA MIA! is coming to The Star Gold.
Originally planned for July 2020, the production was forced to postpone performances with the rest of the entertainment industry during the Covid crisis.
Now, with plans bigger and brighter than ever before, Matt Ward Entertainment (MWE) has announced that the smash-hit musical will return to the main stage from June 19 to July 11, 2021 at The Star Gold Coast.
“It’s official, we are back, and I’m so happy to announce that the show WILL go on,” he said.
“The Arts and so many productions were hit hard due to COVID and it was stop and start on the production for some time with all of the uncertainty.”
“But there’s no better feeling then having the green light to get back to doing what we love and being able to support local talent with our production.”
“There is a massive appetite for live performance and entertainment off the back of lockdowns and restrictions, so dancing queens of the Gold Coast can get excited for what’s to come.
“Our incredible production team have focused all of their efforts over the last year into putting together an even bigger and better version of the loved musical.”
Matt also confirmed that cast auditions for the production will commence at the beginning of February.
We are on the hunt for Queensland-based performers to join our incredible cast. There is so much talent across the state and now more than ever is the time to showcase this to audiences, he said.
Due to imposed restrictions, video submissions will be accepted for the first casting call with live auditions taking place from late February.
A total of 20 performers will make up the MAMMA MIA! cast and there is still hope on the horizon for one budding musical theatre star to land the lead role of ‘Sophie Sheridan’ when the official star search kicks off again next month via radio partner 1029 Hot Tomato.
Tickets for the new show dates are on sale now via Ticketek, while those who have pre-bought tickets will be directly transferred over to the new dates or have the option for a refund if unable to attend.
