As part of the Hayes Theatre Co Cabaret Season 2015, the company and venue will play host to a few special events aimed at bolstering and supporting the local musical theatre cabaret industry.
The cabaret season is packed to the brim with exciting performances – you can read about them here – but these extra events are designed to engage artists and creatives with making their own shows, and making them better.
A panel discussion with leaders in the industries supporting Australian theatre Friday 5th June, 11am. Tickets: $35
What does it take to produce a musical? Other than a great script, an amazing director and talented cast. Components is a panel discussion assembled to answer this very question featuring the expertise of licensing agent, Stuart Hendricks of MTI Australasia and Hal Leonard Australia; Kerry Comerford, VP of Really Useful Australia; and marketing and publicity expert, Kendra Reid, Managing Director of AKA Australia. Hosted by producer Richard Carroll, whether you want to produce the next big (or small) musical or you’re just looking to dip your toe in the water, Components tells you how to do it.
Acclaimed Director and Choreographer Kelley Abbey and celebrated Musical Director and Composer Max Lambert
Friday 19 June, 11am. Tickets: $75
An exclusive Masterclass in which a number of participants will be invited on stage to present audition pieces and receive invaluable expert feedback. During the Masterclass, Kelley and Max will reveal what a professional audition panel is looking for, what they are thinking, and exactly what it is that separates a good audition from a remarkable one.
Australia’s leading cabaret performers, writers, festival/venue programmers and producers chew the fat and discuss the not-so delicate art of cabaret production. Running the gamut of all things cabaret, the panel will present their perspectives on how artists can craft a show that stands out from the crowd and turn bum deals into bums on seats. Come to the Cabaret is a need-to-know guide for cabaret artists of all styles.
Friday 26 June, 11am. Tickets: $75
