Grease The Musical has played to over 160, 000 patrons in Melbourne since its first preview performance on January 2 this year, and its three month season at Her Majesty’s Theatre is now completely sold out.

Producer John Frost has told the media that this proscenium arch revival of Grease, starring Rob Mills and Gretel Scarlett in the iconic roles of Danny and Sandy, is one of the most successful shows ever staged in Melbourne.

“It’s one of the highest selling productions ever at Her Majesty’s Theatre, and one of the fastest selling shows to play in Melbourne”, he said.

“Rarely have I seen audience reaction like the one we get every night for GREASE, with everyone in the aisles dancing and singing along. GREASE truly is Melbourne’s Number One Party Musical!”

The show will close on March 30 in Melbourne with further tour cities scheduled. But because of the extraordinary demand for tickets, Frost has announced a return season from December 11 at the Regent Theatre across town.

“Audiences are still clamouring for GREASE tickets but we can’t extend any further as the show is heading to Singapore, Perth and Adelaide. But luckily we’ve been able to lock in a return season in December at the Regent Theatre, and all our wonderful cast are available. So Melbourne’s Number One Party Musical will be back, and tickets will go on sale on Monday 31 March. Get in fast to book your tickets because we know it’s the hottest ticket in town!”

Bert Newton will return to his radio roots playing the role of slick veteran disc jockey Vince Fontaine, while Todd McKenney dusts off his dancing shoes to star as Teen Angel. Television and stage veteran Val Lehman returns to musical theatre to play Rydell High’s tough school principal Miss Lynch, while Lucy Maunder plays bad girl Rizzo, and Stephen Mahy is Kenickie. The role of heart throb rock star Johnny Casino will be played by John Paul Young, who is taking over the role for the Perth and Adelaide seasons.
