Neil Gooding Productions and Highway Run Productions have announced the full cast for High Fidelity, the musical based on Nick Hornby’s novel and subsequent film of the same name. The production, set to open at Hayes Theatre Co in November, will feature seven performers from the current Australian tour of the hit musical Kinky Boots, which is due to close in Brisbane in October.
Joining the leading pair will be Dash Kruck (Little Shop of Horrors) as Dick, the nerdy music expert and record store employee, and fellow Kinky Boots cast member Joe Kosky will play Barry, Rob’s music snob workmate who dreams of one day becoming a rock god.
Rounding out the cast are Erin Clare (We Will Rock You), Denise Devlin (Rent, Kinky Boots), Bronte Florian (Kinky Boots), Zoe Gertz (Georgy Girl), Anthony Gooley (Calamity Jane), Alex Jeans (American Idiot), Jenni Little (Kinky Boots), Matthew Predny (Kinky Boots), and newcomer Madison Hegarty.
The production will be directed by Neil Gooding and Choreographed by Cameron Mitchell.
Featuring an original score with music by Tom Kitt (Next To Normal), High Fidelity tells the story of life and vinyl while skilfully evoking the sounds and styles of the greatest artists a record store can offer: artists like Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, U2, The Beatles, Heart, Pat Benatar, Guns ’n’ Roses, Ben Folds, The Beastie Boys, Dr. Dre, and Marvin Gaye.
“High Fidelity is a show that requires not only a cast of excellent singers and actors, but also performers that have great comic timing,” said Gooding.
“Over several days in Sydney, we saw some of the strongest auditions I have ever seen. We have assembled the most exciting cast of actors that you could wish for, and I can’t wait to get started on the show. I think there are going to be a lot of laughs… and some blazing vocals!”
High Fidelity will open at the Hayes on 18 November 2017 (and plays until the landlord kicks them out and sets up a K-Mart or something.)
