FROZEN postponed to December

Disney Theatrical Productions Australia is dedicated to the safety and comfort of all our audience members, cast, crew and venue staff.

Due to the COVID-19 situation globally and in line with all current restrictions and advice from the Federal and State Governments, we have made the decision to postpone Frozen the Musical at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney until December 1, 2020.

All performances from July 7 to November 15, 2020 have been rescheduled. The Sydney season of Frozen the Musical will begin on December 1, 2020 and performances up to February 21, 2021 will be on sale. Further performances will be released to the general public at a later date.

Ticket holders will be contacted by Ticketmaster shortly regarding rescheduling and refunding.

We thank you for your patience and understanding and look forward to welcoming you back to the theatre, to share our beautiful production with you, at a time when we can be together again. For now, please stay safe in your kingdoms of isolation.

This news comes as Disney Theatrical Productions announced that its stage adaptation of Frozen will not reopen on Broadway once the pandemic eases, making the musical the first to be felled by the current crisis.

Frozen had been the weakest of the three Disney musicals on that had been running on Broadway, the others being The Lion King and Aladdin and the company made it clear that it does not believe audiences will return in substantial enough numbers to sustain all of those shows.

This difficult decision was made for several reasons but primarily because we believe that three Disney productions will be one too many titles to run successfully in Broadway’s new landscape, Thomas Schumacher, the president of Disney Theatrical Productions, said in a letter to his staff.
