Fight to save Perth theatre

It appears a Perth-based theatre has been saved after a local Council reversed a decision that would have ended more than a decade of tradition.

It appears a Perth-based theatre has been saved after a local Council reversed a decision that would have ended more than a decade of tradition.

The City of Gosnells voted to cease operating the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre in Thornlie at a meeting in October, essentially making it a ‘hall for hire’ and threatening the future of its theatrical presentations.

The venue opened in 1994 and hosts various shows each year.

The council moved away from its original decision at a recent meeting, and the theatre is now expected to continue.
