Back by popular demand in 2012, The Arts Centre Gold Coast and Opera Queensland are presenting a fantastic initiative for opera and music theatre enthusiasts aged 50 and above!

Modelled on Opera Queensland’s ‘Moving Opera’ concept, usually conducted for high school students, Opera for Over 50’s was created to offer the same experience to Gold Coast seniors. In 2011, 40 young at heart Over 50’s sang, moved and performed popular operatic and musical theatre repertoire under the mastery of directors, pianists and vocalists from Opera Queensland.

The program has proven so successful that it will now be delivered in numerous locations across Queensland in 2012. In a week-long workshop tailored especially for music lovers who are young-at-heart, all participants will learn music and perform with a team of professional artists from Opera Queensland.

The program will run between 9:30am and 3:30 pm at the Arts Centre Gold Coast from Tuesday 14th to Saturday 18th of February 2012. The workshop culminates in a special showcase event in The Arts Theatre on Saturday 18 February.

No previous experience is needed and places are limited. The workshop cost is $120. If you love to sing and dream of the spotlight, contact Vicki Buenen by phone 07-5581-6536 or email buenen@theartscentregc.com.au to register and secure your place!

For more information about the workshop contact Amy Church 075581 6586 or church@theartscentregc.com.au
