Entertainment industry will pay tribute to Jon English in public memorial service, Sydney

It was at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney in 1972, that the Australian public first fell in love with Jon English.

Playing Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar, Jon launched himself into the stratosphere to become a household name, enjoyed, admired and loved by so many of us.

It is apt that his Public Memorial Service – an occasion for the entertainment industry and Jon’s fans to come and celebrate Jon’s life with tributes and performances in his memory – will take place at this very theatre on April 4.

The family of Jon English have confirmed that everyone is invited and very welcome.

Date: Monday 4 April, 2016

Venue: Capitol Theatre, 13 Campbell Street, Haymarket, Sydney

Time: 4.30pm for a 5pm start

Jon’s family would like to thanks Stephen Found for generously providing the Capitol Theatre, QPAC for offering Paul Dellit to co-ordinate production, and Simon Gallaher, Jon’s long time stage producer and friend, for arranging both.
