Starring Anthony Warlow as Yuri Zhivago, and based on the novel of the same name by Boris Pasternak, the musical opened in Brisbane this week to a standing ovation. The cast and crew of Zhivago entered the opening week of their Brisbane season fresh from the 

Dr Zhivago. will be AussieTheatre.com’s ‘Featured Show’ this month, and we have already kicked off our with some feature articles. Interviews with Taneel Van Zyl and Anthony Warlow are already live on the site, and we will be speaking with cast Helpmann Award Nominee Martin Crewes (currently playing Pasha) next week.

Interesting Facts About Dr. Zhivago:

• During the first preview of the world premiere season in Sydney this year, Anthony Warlow was injured and couldn’t perform more than a snippet of the show, much to the disappointment of the crowd.
• Anthony Warlow’s understudy, Anton Berezin, performed the role of Yuri Zhivago for most of the preview week.
• As an opening night gift, composer Lucy Simon and the writers of Dr. Zhivago gave each cast member a hand written sheet of manuscript from the score, framed, on which was written a congratulatory note .
• At the upstage end, Dr Zhivago’s raked stage is nearly as tall as cast member Mischana Dellora-Cornish (who plays Zhivago’s son)
