The Chooky Dancers head to Seymour Centre for Reconciliation Week, launch tour

At the Seymour Centre during National Reconciliation Week 2014, awareness will be raised of both historical and contemporary experiences of the first Australians. Part of the varied and vivid line-up is the performance of a brand new work, Djuki Mala, created by the group of the same name (Djuki Mala, or, The Chooky Dancers).

The Seymour Centre performance is one stop on their self-titled 2014 national tour, which will see them travel from Northern Territory through New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, and South Australia.
Djuki Mala have recently performed at Beijing New Year 2010 (China), Taipei International Flora Expo 2010 (Taiwan), Festival of Pacific Arts – Australian delegation 2012 (Solomon Islands) and Montreal Comedy Festival and the MOHAWK First Nations Festival 2013 (Canada).
Delivering laughter and a cultural insight featuring an ensemble of young Yolngu men, Djuki Mala mashes up traditional and contemporary practices that delight audiences all over the world.
