Melbourne children’s auditions for South Pacific this weekend

Teddy Tahu Rhodes and Lisa McCune will star in South Pacific

The creative team of Opera Australia’s South Pacific will be in Melbourne this weekend to hold auditions for the two children’s roles, Jerome and Ngana.

South Pacific will be opening in Melbourne on September 13 at the Princess Theatre starring Teddy Tahu Rhodes, Lisa McCune, Kate Ceberano and Eddie Perfect.

To be eligible to audition for the roles of Jerome and Ngana, applicants must be between the ages of 8 and 11 and of Latino, Pacific Islander, Aboriginal, Maori, African‐American or multi‐ethnic descent to play the children of a Caucasian father and a Maori mother.

“The children don’t need previous stage experience, but should have a love of theatre, music and drama”, said Casting Director and South Pacific’s Associate Director, Neil Rutherford.

He also added that the children needed to have ‘natural instincts’ with a comfortable stage presence.
