Celebrity Theatresports is back for another year, and this year, it’s for an especially great cause. This year’s show will be raising money for Impro Australia’s new Indigenous Theatresports Youth Fund, designed to bring free theatresports shows and training to Indigenous youth across NSW.
At this year’s event celebrities and professional improvisers will take to the stage – no scripts, no regrets – to make up comedy scenes and skits on the spot, based on audience suggestions. Celebrity guests are set to include Dean Haglund (The X-Files), Jay Laga’aia (Star Wars), Celeste Barber (All Saints), Bjorn Stewart (Black Comedy), Nicola Parry and Daniel Cordeaux (Thank God You’re Here), plus stars of Cleverman and the new Aussie adaptation of Whose Line is it Anyway?
The Fund’s first project will start in October 2016 at Redfern Community Centre, with plans to extend to the resty of Sydney, regional NSW, and remote communities.
Theatresports, according to Impro Australia, “helps kids build their confidence, communication skills, problem-solving skills, work effectively as a team & adapt to change.
“And it doesn’t require sets, sound or lighting to perform so they can easily put on shows to raise money in their local communities. And bring everyone together for fun and laughter.”
Celebrity Theatresports will take place on Saturday 6th August 2016 at the Enmore Theatre. Click here for tickets and here for more information about the event, the Fund, and celebrity player updates.
