On her royal tour, Queenie Van de Zandt will once again grace the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts with her one-woman show, The best (and worst) of Queenie van de Zandt.
Brisbane last saw Queenie in her solo show Cabaret in 12 Easy Steps and Queenie, like the hardcore addict that she is, having been to cabaret rehab and back, shared with us her 12 Step program, in which a mix of hilarious stories, sharing embarrassing moments, and impressive vocals resulted in a great night at the theatre.
Her latest cabaret is no exception. Queenie continues her hilarious anecdotes, insightful observations and beautiful songs as she recounts some of her triumphs, tears and trips down the rabbit hole of Show Biz. Starting with pulling on her ABBA socks at age eight, Queenie van de Zandt plunged into the shady world of eisteddfods, speech and drama exams and school musicals to become the cabaret and musical theatre royalty she is today.
Treat yourself to this cabaret connoisseur, for one night only on Friday 18 May at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts
It is not just the confident ease at which Queenie puts the audience (bar the front row), nor the casual way in which she delivers banter that makes her so funny, but the match of her verbal wit and vocal skill that is the true testament to the professional spit and polish that is Queenie Van Der Zandt. With Queenie, life really is a Cabaret. – AussieTheatre.com
