Based on the best-selling novel, the musical adaptation of The Bridges of Madison County will be making its Australian premiere at the Hayes Theatre next March.
Developed by Pulitzer and Tony Award winning Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Parade, Songs for a New World) and Marsha Normal, the musical explores the life of Francesca, an Italian immigrant living in the Midwest, and her passionate affair with photographer Robert Kincaid.
Having won a Tony Award for Best Score and Orchestrations, the show is rarely produced and massively underrated. With Direction by Neil Gooding, Musical Direction by Geoffrey Castles, and Choreography by Leah Howard, the Hayes Theatre production will no doubt be at the regular standard for the company.
The cast includes Kate Maree Hoolihan as Francesca, Martin Crewes as Robert, Anton Berezin as Richard “Bud” Johnson, Beth Daly as Marge, Barry Mitchell as Charlie, Katie McKee as Marian/Chiara, Zoe Ioannou as Carolyn and Grady Swithenbank as Michael.
Tickets and more information are available at the Hayes Theatre Co. website.
