Enda Markey’s acclaimed intimate Sydney production of Blood Brothers is heading to Melbourne’s new Alex Theatre in St Kilda for a strictly three-week limited season in July.
Opening at the Hayes Theatre earlier this year, the professional production sold out at every performance and played an extended season to high praise from critics and audiences alike.
Helen Dallimore will reprise her role as Mrs Johnstone, as will Bobby Fox as Mickey. His other half, twin brother Edward, will be played in the Melbourne season by Josh Piterman. Michael Cormick returns as the Narrator.
Also returning are Christy Sullivan, Bronwyn Mulcahy, Jamie Kristian, and AussieTheatre’s own Erin James. They will be joined in the ensemble by AussieTheatre’s other Managing Editor, the multi-talented Matt Edwards!
Blood Brothers is a smash-hit musical that ran on London’s West End for 24 years, and tells the tale of Mrs Johnstone and her twin boys, who were separated at birth. A show that blends superstition with biting class commentary, it’s lively, exciting, and moving.
This one had Sydney buzzing for weeks, and Melbourne, now it’s your turn to hear about the Johnstone twins.
Blood Brothers will play the Alex Theatre St Kilda from 14 July 2015. For tickets and more information, visit bloodbrothersthemusical.com.au.
