Bell Shakespeare – Theatre in The Rocks

What better company to showcase Sydney’s The Rocks’ association with arts and theatre than Bell Shakespeare? With their offices situated right in the thick of The Rocks, Bell Shakespeare have a lot to share about the culture of the area.

Thankfully for all theatre enthusiasts and history-nuts (and everyone in between!) Bell Shakespeare have teamed up with the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority for a series of interactive workshops as part of their residency at The Rocks Windmill – a striking four storey temporary installation, acting as a functioning wheat-grind as well as a vibrant and intimate 40 seat venue.

Theatre has been a part of The Rocks way-of-life for over 200 years, and during The Rocks Windmill season, the legacy will continue with Theatre in The Rocks: Then and Now – a workshop held within the walls of the Windmill. Celebrating the Bard’s legacy and the rich tradition of performance in The Rocks, this workshop held during the first week of May offers a rare opportunity for audiences to experience theatre, the way their ancestors might have.
