Annie set to open in Brisbane this Thursday

After a successful season in Sydney, Annie the Musical will officially open in Brisbane on Thursday 12 April for the next stop in a national tour.

Playing at the Lyric Theatre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), Annie stars Anthony Warlow, Nancye Hayes, Todd McKenney, Chloe Dallimore, Julie Goodwin and Alan Jones as President Roosevelt.

In her review of the Sydney season, AussieTheatre’s Cassie Tongue described the show as “an explosion of joy.”

“While Annie must wait for the sun to come out, we in the audience are never once dark and dreary”, she said.  “In fact, you’ll have the time of your hard-knock life.”

24 talented local children will also take to the stage as the orphans in the production – three casts of 8 children will share the roles during the 5 week season.

The three young ladies alternating the coveted role of Annie, are Xanthe Dunning, Anita Munro and Chloe Thiel.

Annie will transfer to Melbourne’s Regent Theatre for a 12 week season, opening on 24 May. The production will then cross the Nullarbor to Perth for a limited season.
