Amanda Muggleton returns to Perth in Blood Brothers

She was Shirley Valentine, she was educated as Rita and now Amanda Muggleton returns to Perth to star as Mrs Johnstone in Willy Russell’s musical Blood Brothers.

Having played and toured characters from two of Russell’s other plays (Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine) Amanda returns will complete the Russell trilogy in Perth this November. “I have had my name on Blood Brothers for many years, but up until now the dates have never worked out”, she said.

Presented by Janus Entertainment, the musical will preview on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 November before opening on Friday 11 November at the Metcalfe Playhouse for a four week season.

Blood Brothers is a moving tale of twins separated shortly after birth. One twin (Edward) lives a life of privilege the other (Mickey) a life of poverty. Despite the efforts of their families to keep them apart, the brothers’ lives intertwine until the truth is revealed with tragic consequences.

Opening in 1983 Blood Brothers continues to be one of the longest standing multi-award winning musicals on the West End.
Directed by John Senczuk (When Dad Married Fury, The Sugar Mother, The Enchanters), with musical direction by Ian Westrip and Choreographer Anna Tsirigotis the score includes ‘Shoes Upon the Table’, ‘Marilyn Monroe’, ‘Bright New Day’ and the haunting, ‘Tell me It’s Not True’.

Blood Bothers features Simon Thompson as Mickey, Nick Maclaine as Eddie and a strong local supporting cast  including Garreth Bradshaw, Julia Hern, Sarah McNeill, Ian Toyne, Maree Cole, Tyler Jones, Richard Mellick and Charles McComb.
