Wicked Part 2 Soars to New Release Date, Arriving Early in Cinemas

The highly anticipated second installment of the ‘Wicked’ movie series has announced a new release date, flying into cinemas sooner than expected. Originally scheduled for a 26 November 2025 debut, the film will now be released five days earlier, on 21 November 2025. The change was revealed on the official ‘Wicked’ X (formerly Twitter) account.

The first part of the ‘Wicked’ adaptation is set to premiere on 22 November 2024, bringing to life the beloved story of Elphaba and Glinda. The film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, alongside an impressive cast that includes Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Tony nominee Ethan Slater as Boq, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, and Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond. Both films are directed by Jon M. Chu.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,’ the story explores the unlikely friendship between two university students in the land of Oz, with one destined to become Glinda the Good Witch and the other, the Wicked Witch of the West. The screenplay is a collaboration between ‘Wicked’ musical writers Winnie Holzman (book) and Stephen Schwartz (score), ensuring the adaptation remains true to the spirit of the hit stage production.

With the revised release schedule, fans can now look forward to experiencing the magical world of Oz a little sooner.
