Fans of Wicked, the spellbinding West End and Broadway musical, have cause to celebrate as the show announces an extended run in London through January 2026. The milestone announcement comes as the production marks its remarkable 7000th performance, cementing its status as the 10th longest-running production in West End history.
Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel, Wicked reimagines the backstory of the beloved characters from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the musical continues to captivate audiences with its compelling tale of friendship, love, and the untold history of the witches of Oz.
The current cast includes Alexia Khadime as Elphaba and Lucy St. Louis as Glinda, with Ryan Reid portraying Fiyero. Other notable cast members include Sophie-Louise Dann as Madame Morrible, Michael Fenton Stevens as the Wizard, and Caitlin Anderson as Nessarose. Standbys include Laura Harrison for Elphaba and Christine Tucker for Glinda, covering Lisa-Anne Wood during her maternity leave.
To meet surging demand, the production has released over 550,000 new tickets, extending bookings to Sunday, 4 January 2026. Ten extra performances have also been added to the Christmas 2025 schedule, with shows running throughout December and into early January 2026.
The show’s creative brilliance is a collaborative effort, with direction by Joe Mantello, musical staging by Wayne Cilento, scenic design by Eugene Lee, and costumes by Susan Hilferty. Lighting, sound, and projection design are handled by Kenneth Posner, Tony Meola, and Elaine J. McCarthy, respectively, while Tom Watson oversees hair and wig designs.
Meanwhile, Wicked’s third UK and Ireland tour continues to mesmerize audiences across the region, while anticipation builds for the upcoming film adaptation starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, set to hit cinemas on 22 November.
Wicked is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone, with Michael McCabe serving as executive producer for the UK production. The show remains a spellbinding spectacle of theatrical magic and emotional depth, enchanting audiences well into its second decade.
