Titanique, the off-Broadway sensation that merges the music of Celine Dion with the iconic film Titanic, is making its way to London’s West End. The show is set to open at the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Circus, with previews starting on December 9, 2024, and an official press night on January 9, 2025. While casting details are yet to be announced, excitement is already building for this highly anticipated run.
Co-written by Tye Blue, Marla Mindelle, and Constantine Rousouli, Titanique premiered off-Broadway in June 2022 at Asylum Theater before transferring to the Daryl Roth Theatre due to overwhelming demand. Directed by Tye Blue and choreographed by Ellenore Scott, the musical also features music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Nicholas James Connell. The creative team includes set designers Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and Grace Laubacher, costume designer Alejo Vietti, lighting designer Paige Seber, sound designer Lawrence Schober, and Pearson Casting handling the casting process.
The musical features a mix of Dion’s greatest hits, including “My Heart Will Go On,” “All by Myself,” and “To Love You More.” Since its debut, Titanique has garnered multiple accolades, including Lucille Lortel Awards, the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Musical, and several other honors.
The decision to bring Titanique to the West End marks a significant milestone for the production, as London is known for its high standards of entertainment and vibrant theatre scene. The Criterion Theatre, located in the heart of Piccadilly Circus, provides a fitting venue for this unique blend of comedy, music, and nostalgic storytelling.
Producers believe the show’s humor and charm will resonate with London audiences just as it has in New York. The production promises to deliver an unforgettable theatrical experience, combining sharp wit, beloved music, and a fresh take on a classic story. With tickets expected to be in high demand, theatre-goers are encouraged to secure their seats early for what is sure to be a standout event in the West End theatre calendar.
