The Lehman Trilogy to Return to the West End with Cast Announced

The critically acclaimed play ‘The Lehman Trilogy’ is set to return to the West End later this year. Produced by the National Theatre and Neal Street Productions, Sam Mendes’ celebrated production will run for a limited 14-week season at the Gillian Lynne Theatre from September 24, 2024, to January 5, 2025.

Written by Stefano Massini and adapted by Ben Power, the play narrates the rise and fall of the Lehman banking dynasty. It first premiered in the UK at the National Theatre before moving to the West End. The production has received praise for its compelling storytelling and the exceptional performances of its cast.

Following a successful run on Broadway, where it won the Best Play award and earned Simon Russell Beale his first Tony Award, ‘The Lehman Trilogy’ is set to captivate London audiences once again.

The cast for the new London run includes John Heffernan, Aaron Krohn, and Howard W. Overshown, all of whom recently appeared in the show’s San Francisco season. Cat Beveridge and Anyssa Neumann will reprise their roles as principal and alternate pianists, with additional casting to be announced.

Director Sam Mendes shared his excitement about the return of the play to the West End, highlighting the journey from its initial reading at the National Theatre Studio to its current form that has been enjoyed on three continents.

The production team features set design by Tony Award-winner Es Devlin, costume design by Katrina Lindsay, video design by Luke Halls, lighting design by Jon Clark, and music composition and sound design by Nick Powell, with co-sound design by Dominic Bilkey. Music direction is by Candida Caldicot, and movement is directed by Polly Bennett. Rory McGregor will direct the West End production, with Charmian Hoare handling company voice work and casting by Naomi Downham. The team also includes associate lighting designer Charlotte Burton and associate video designer Zakk Hein.

‘The Lehman Trilogy’ promises to be a theatrical highlight of the year, continuing its tradition of powerful performances and masterful storytelling.
