The Devil Wears Prada set to premiere on the UK stage

Mark your calendars, fashionistas and theatre aficionados alike! The iconic tale, The Devil Wears Prada, is making its glittering debut in the UK’s West End, with the curtains set to rise soon.

From the pages of Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 gripping novel to the unforgettable 2006 silver screen adaptation with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, we now journey into the mesmerizing world of high heels and high stakes on stage. Dive into Andy’s whirlwind adventure as a journalist diving deep into the world of fashion, and emerge surprised with the tale’s unexpected twists.

And who better to set the musical score than the legendary Sir Elton John, with poignant lyrics by Shaina Taub and a spellbinding book penned by Kate Wetherhead? Not to forget, the dazzling direction and choreography under the genius of Jerry Mitchell, the mind behind Kinky Boots. At today’s electrifying launch, Mitchell quipped, “What took them so long to ask me?!” and gushed over the thrill of orchestrating a fashion-forward runway with such a timeless story.

It’s not just a repeat performance; it’s a revamp, a reimagining, a whole new spectacle. The production has been carefully refined and polished, even incorporating fresh aspects from John’s original demos, making the UK version genuinely one-of-a-kind. Fresh off a developmental run in Chicago in 2022, this version promises to be bigger and bolder.

With an aesthetic set by Tim Hatley and stunning outfits crafted by Gregg Barnes, prepare to be dazzled. Be the first to witness the magic at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 9 July 2024. Following this, the West End will be graced by the production at the Dominion Theatre, from 24 October 2024. And for those looking to combine glamour with a cause, a grand gala event on 1 December 2024 will be dedicated to raising funds for the World Aids Day and the Elton John Aids Foundation.
