The Bodyguard is ready to sweep audiences off their feet again, announcing a fresh principal cast and a packed itinerary that spans the UK and mainland Europe. Thea Sharrock returns to direct the high-octane stage adaptation of Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 film, with a book by Oscar-winning writer Alex Dinelaris and a soundtrack built around the Whitney Houston catalogue that defined an era.
From power ballads such as “I Will Always Love You” and “I Have Nothing” to floor-fillers like “Queen of the Night” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” the musical channels Houston’s greatest hits to tell the story of imperilled pop icon Rachel Marron and her reluctant protector, former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer.
Sidonie Smith — Rachel Marron
Adam Garcia — Frank Farmer
Sasha Monique — Nicki Marron
Matt Milburn — Sy Spector
Mireia Mambo — Rachel Marron (alternate at select performances)
Additional casting for supporting roles and ensemble will be announced in the coming months.
The new tour begins at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre (20–27 September 2025) before rolling out to more than 30 cities. Confirmed venues include Blackpool, Oxford, Aberdeen, Milton Keynes, Manchester, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, Dublin, and a clutch of European dates in Zurich, Munich, Berlin, and Frankfurt. Select performances are already on sale, with further ticket releases staggered throughout the summer.
Since its 2012 world premiere in London’s West End, The Bodyguard has been seen by almost four million people across 15 countries. The incoming tour promises refreshed choreography, newly designed sets, and state-of-the-art sound to make Houston’s classics soar in theatres of every size.
Priority booking is now open for many of the UK stops, with general sales set to follow on regional theatre websites and authorised ticketing partners. Patrons are advised to check individual box offices for performance schedules—especially if hoping to catch Mireia Mambo in the lead role.
With powerhouse vocals, a timeless love story, and a tried-and-true formula for standing ovations, The Bodyguard looks set to remain “Queen of the Night” on stages well into 2026.
