Taylor Swift Files Trademark for ‘Female Rage: The Musical’

In an unexpected turn of events, Taylor Swift has taken steps that hint at a potential musical venture. During a recent performance on her Eras tour, which is currently sweeping through Europe, Swift casually referred to a segment of her show as ‘Female Rage: The Musical.’

What seemed like an offhand comment might be a hint at something much bigger. Last Friday, Swift’s company, TAS Rights Management, officially filed an application to trademark ‘Female Rage: The Musical.’ The trademark aims to cover a broad range of categories, including ‘downloadable electronic sheet music,’ ‘musical sound recordings,’ ‘audio recordings featuring music and musical entertainment,’ and ‘digital publications, namely, books, booklets and book excerpts, in the fields of entertainment, music, and musical entertainment.’

While this move could merely be a strategic branding exercise for merchandise, the prospect of a Taylor Swift musical is enough to stir excitement among her fans. Despite her appearance in the film adaptation of Cats, Swift’s music has yet to grace the stages of Broadway or the West End. Her songs were once considered for inclusion in the hit jukebox musical & Juliet, though they ultimately did not appear in the final production.

Swift has a history of theatrical interest, having auditioned for the role of Eponine in the film version of Les Misérables. Although she did not land the part, her connection to the stage world remains strong.

As Swift’s Eras tour continues into 2025, fans can enjoy a recorded version of the tour (excluding songs from The Tortured Poets Department) now available on Disney Plus. Whether ‘Female Rage: The Musical’ becomes a full-fledged stage production or a new line of branded content, Swift’s latest move has certainly captured the imagination of her audience.
