The iconic musical Starlight Express has released a brand-new trailer for its current revival, now playing in London. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s beloved show, which originally premiered 40 years ago, brings to life the thrilling story of a child’s toy train set as the engines compete to be the fastest in the world.

Audience members at Wembley Park have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the high-speed action, with seating options either around and inside the “racing track” or in more conventional rake seating behind the performance space. This revival of Starlight Express features Jeevan Braich as Rusty, Kayna Montecillo as Pearl, Jade Marvin as Momma McCoy, Al Knott as Greaseball, Eve Humphrey as Dinah, and Tom Pigram as Electra.

The ensemble cast includes Jamie Addison, Jessie Angell, Ollie Augustin, Charles Butcher, and a host of talented performers. The production also features young actors Shaniyah Abrahams, Cristian Buttaci, Barnaby Halliwell, and Mimi Soetan.

In addition to the onstage excitement, a new cast album is set to be released on November 8, 2024, with two tracks currently available for streaming. Starlight Express originally debuted at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in 1984, where it ran until 2002. It has also enjoyed a continuous run in Bochum, Germany, for over 30 years, captivating more than 20 million audience members worldwide.

Directed by Luke Sheppard, this revival features a creative team that includes set designer Tim Hatley, costume designer Gabriella Slade, lighting designer Howard Hudson, and sound designer Gareth Owen. The show, known for its cast performing on rollerskates, also features the return of original choreographer Arlene Phillips as creative dramaturg, alongside choreographer Ashley Nottingham.

With Lloyd Webber’s timeless music, lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, and new orchestrations by Matthew Brind and Lloyd Webber himself, this revival of Starlight Express promises to be a dazzling journey for new and returning fans alike.
