The complete cast has been confirmed for ‘Here We Are’, the final musical creation by esteemed composer Stephen Sondheim, scheduled to make its premiere in the forthcoming autumn season at the Shed, situated in New York City.
‘Here We Are’ boasts a musical score by Sondheim, a narrative structure penned by David Ives, and the directorial prowess of Joe Mantello. Its conception draws inspiration from a pair of cinematic works – ‘The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie’ and ‘The Exterminating Angel’ – both masterpieces of Luis Buñuel.
The ensemble for the performance comprises of an array of talent, including Francois Battiste, Tracie Bennett, Bobby Cannavale, Micaela Diamond, Amber Gray, Jin Ha, Rachel Bay Jones, Denis O’Hare, Steven Pasquale, David Hyde Pierce, and Jeremy Shamos. The understudy roles are undertaken by Bradley Dean, Adam Harrington, Bligh Voth, Adante Carter, Mehry Eslaminia, and Lindsay Nicole Chambers.
In terms of its production team, ‘Here We Are’ is graced with choreographic guidance by Sam Pinkleton, scenic and costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and sound design by Tom Gibbons. The orchestral arrangements are the handiwork of Jonathan Tunick, while the musical direction and supervision are courtesy of Alexander Gemignani. Hair design is executed by Wigmaker Associates, and the casting process was conducted by The Telsey Office.
This limited engagement is set to commence on Thursday, the 28th of September at the Shed’s Griffin Theater. The grand opening night will follow shortly after, on Sunday, the 22nd of October. The production is slated to entertain audiences for a duration of 15 weeks.
