The Queens of Six the Musical are making history yet again! The producers of the WhatsOnStage Award-winning musical, penned by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, have just announced a major milestone: the show’s UK and Broadway cast recordings have been streamed over a billion times collectively.
Released in 2018, the UK studio cast recording features powerhouse performances from Renée Lamb (Catherine of Aragon), Christina Modestou (Anne Boleyn), Natalie Paris (Jane Seymour), Genesis Lynea (Anna of Cleves), Aimie Atkinson (Catherine Howard), and Izuka Hoyle (Catherine Parr). The album boasts orchestrations by Tom Curran and production by Sam Featherstone, Marlow, Moss, and Joe Beighton, with George Stiles and Paul Lisberg as executive producers.
The Broadway cast recording, Six: Live on Opening Night, is a Grammy-nominated sensation. Notably, it’s the first original Broadway cast recording ever captured live on an opening night. Debuting at number one on the Billboard cast album charts, it was produced by Paul Gatehouse, alongside Marlow, Moss, Featherstone, and Curran. This album features the original Broadway cast members—Adrianna Hicks, Andrea Macasaet, Abby Mueller, Brittney Mack, Samantha Pauly, and Anna Uzele—with a bonus track by the original Broadway alternates Keirsten Nicole Hodgens, Nicole Kyoung-Mi Lambert, Courtney Mack, and Mallory Maedke.
Six the Musical reimagines the lives of Henry VIII’s six wives as pop stars, blending historical heartbreak with modern empowerment in an electrifying 80-minute show.
Globally, Six is in its third year on Broadway at the Lena Horne Theatre. It’s also on a North American tour and embarking on a second Australian tour in Melbourne. The musical has dazzled audiences in South Korea, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and is soon to hit Singapore, the Philippines, and Japan. Meanwhile, the West End production continues its successful run at the Vaudeville Theatre in London.
The show’s accolades include over 35 major international awards, such as the 2022 Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Costume Design. Six also won consecutive WhatsOnStage Awards for Best West End Show in 2022 and 2023, and the 2020 BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical.
The production is co-directed by Lucy Moss and Jamie Armitage, with choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille. The creative team features set designer Emma Bailey, costume designer Gabriella Slade, lighting designer Tim Deiling, and sound designer Paul Gatehouse. The score includes orchestrations by Tom Curran, with music supervision and vocal arrangements by Joe Beighton. Yutong Zhang serves as the musical director, and Lauren Hopkinson is the associate UK musical supervisor. Pearson Casting handles the show’s casting.
Six is produced by Kenny Wax, Wendy and Andy Barnes, and George Stiles. The musical continues to captivate audiences around the world, proving that the Queens’ reign is far from over.
