Shrek the Musical Set for a Summer Run at London’s Eventim Apollo

Shrek the Musical, a celebrated Broadway and West End production, is set to grace the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London, next summer. This announcement follows the successful conclusion of its extensive tour.

Antony Lawrence, Joanne Clifton, James Gillan, Brandon Lee Sears, and Cherece Richards will continue to charm audiences in their respective roles as Shrek, Princess Fiona, Lord Farquaad, Donkey, and Dragon. The London stint, commencing on 19 July 2024, promises a six-week run of captivating performances.

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the original DreamWorks animated film ‘Shrek,’ which led to the creation of the Broadway version in 2008, scripted by David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori. The show has been critically acclaimed, receiving eight Tony nominations and winning Best Costume Design. Its original run in the West End was also met with acclaim, garnering four Olivier Award nominations in 2012, including a win for Nigel Harman as Best Supporting Actor in his portrayal of Lord Farquaad.

The revival is produced by Mark Goucher, Matthew Gale, and Gavin Kalin. The creative team is spearheaded by director and choreographer Nick Winston, with Sam Holmes as co-director. The team also includes Philip Witcomb for set and costume design, Ben Cracknell for lighting, Ben Harrison for sound, Jim Arnold for casting, Nina Dunn for projection design, and Jimmy Grimes for puppet design.

The touring production of ‘Shrek the Musical’ will continue until April 2024, concluding its journey in Canterbury after visiting 31 venues. Further casting details for the Eventim Apollo performances will be announced in the future.
